#4847: Website needs more progress updates/news/better communication to end users

Again, I'm sure there is valid reason such as "We spend more time coding
than talking" and "This is open source, like it or leave it" but what
started off as a good start and the establishment of good communications
with end users and the community at large has slumped into the Roadmap
having no release estimates, the Planet Planet installation not having any
 news updates from anyone.

Am I missing something, does the main end of discussion and development
happen on your mailing lists? Do you even have mailing lists?

I'm not trying to cause a fuss, I'm just an interested end user and I like
to know what's happening with the projects I use. Personally, I think this
is key to open source development (Mozilla, Fedora, Gnome, Maemo to name
but a few). Am I just looking for news in the wrong places?
