 I have been having the very same problem for a while now. and it isn't
 every time, or with every msn contact.  And most of the time with me, the
 message actually was delivered to the person.  The most annoying part is
 that after it continues long enough it crashes pidgin causing me to have
 to restart it, after which it will usually crash quicker when it restarts
 and starts having the same problem again.
