 now - when changing status from present to away it clears your message
 automatically

 I would rather have it keep the current message by default, but also
 highlight the box so all the text is selected....then if I'd like to
 change my message it will clear the text and add what i'm typing. If not
 changed it would timeout as it currently does with inactivity in the text
 field.

 This would allow you to keep your message when all you want is to change
 your status but also allow you to change your message easily when making a
 status change.

 simple but easy usability change
