 I run into this problem too, with Yahoo, MSN, AIM, and Google Chat.  After
 I change network connections or suspend/resume, I need to manually
 disconnect and reconnect, or it will take Pidgin a long time to notice
 that it needs to reconnect and I lose incoming messages.
