Comment:

 You can actually log in using email or number.  However, forgetting the @
 and everything afterwards shouldn't sign you into... AIM  :)  It was a
 PIBKAC error to some extent, but not erroring out and signing you into AIM
 is definitely at least error-message worthy, likely a bug.
