 Apparently I didn't pay enough attention or wasn't awake enough when I
 looked at this patch and committed it.  Why is `yahoo_convert_to_numeric`
 needed?  And perhaps a better question, why is `g_markup_escape_text` not
 sufficient in the context in which `yahoo_convert_to_numeric` is used?
 `g_markup_escape_text` will produce properly escaped text for placing
 inside XML.
