 I'm getting a "<username> disconnected. Could not connect to
 Authentication Server: Unknown Error" message when signing into AIM
 account.  The debug log says it fails to connect to the FLAP Server
 --(22:10:11) oscar: unable to connect FLAP server of type 0x0017) --

 First tried reinstall, nothing.[[BR]]

 Pinged AOL's login server (login.messaging.aol.com, success. [[BR]]

 Pinged AOL's OSCAR TOC (login.oscar.aol.com) if you use that,
 success.[[BR]]

 Tried using that stupid AIM program, that worked. I'm guessing it's not
 AOL's problem because I'm able to sign in using AIM.

 AIM and Pidgin are set as exceptions for Windows Firewall. Tried
 connecting with Firewall on and off. I'm attaching log dumps from both
 attempts.

 Looking at other trouble tickets, it seems to be a
 connecting/disconnecting thing, but for me its trouble connecting to start
 with.

 I've never had any past problems using gAIM, nor with Pidgin over the past
 few months, till this.  thanks for your help.

 WinXP SP2
