 on IRC deryni wondered if default_formatize was called before auto-joining
 the room.  In gdb, I set "break default_formatize"  and got:

 default_formatize (c=0x9c42d60) at gtkconv.c:311

 and I then continued and the Jabber chatroom opened with default font
 formatting (the "Font" button in the window does have the correct setting
 tho.)

 So I then manually join the room and get the right formatting with the
 same default_formatize called.
