 I think a standard encryption plugin should come with the client. This
 would make encryption between users pretty easy and seamless. Right now, I
 use OTR, but I don't think it's been updated in a while, and it is hard to
 find.

 Currently, I believe Trillian, the only real competitor to pidgin, has
 built in encryption, but it's obviously much less transparent than
 pidgin's would be. I think having a plugin bundled with pidgin would be a
 great step forward.
