 I have been wondering why the notifications were going away... grr.....
 makes it hard to remember to open a conversation that is minimized if its
 notification number is gone and the app bar isn't highlighted as needing
 attention.

 So confirmed by my also. I am using windows xp, pidgin 2.3.1
