 I have the same issue when chatting with friends on MSN, but for me the
 string is: nt face="Arial">

 As I did not have the problem in earlier days, I guess Micosoft have
 changed something on their end.

 I'm using Pidgin 2.3.1 with German locale. I only use the Windows options
 for Pidgin plugin (2.3.1). My operating system is Win XP SP2.
