Comment:

 Does this only happen with the buddy list window or does it also happen
 with conversation windows? Are you sure this happens as soon as you move
 the cursor on to some other window and not just when pidgin sets you to be
 auto-away because you are idle? Do you have the Iconify on Away plugin
 loaded?

 Does it matter what other (non-pidgin) window you try this with?
