The 'Add Account' dialog for XMPP needs work as the current options
(username, domain, resource, password, local alias) are confusing
Username and password are self explanatory, as are the three tickbox
options
The confusing fields are
Domain: This doesn't mean anything to the average computer user. In
previous versions of Pidgin this was known as Server, which was a little
more obvious. This is even more ambiguous as in the Advanced tab we have
a Connect server option.
I don't know the best way to fix this, but possible ways might be: 1)
change it back to server; 2) provide a tool-tip explaining it; 3) provide
a ? button that can be clicked; or 4) a better, more intuitive, way
Resource: Filled in by default as Home. Most users won't change this.
But what does it actually do, and why is the default not the (hopefully
unique) hostname of the machine Pidgin is running on?
Again, this could be made more obvious by: 1) changing the default; 2)
tool-tip/? button; 3) other?
Local alias: This needs to be logged as a bug on its own. Also see
