Comment:

 The 'Show Protocol Icons' option exists because when we removed them
 originally a large number of people yelled and someone stepped forward
 (eventually, sort of, sideways) with a patch that re-enabled them in the
 new way. I still think bringing them back was a mistake but that is not a
 discussion that is worth having at this point.

 Do you have a reason you want to be able to see all of the contact buddy
 protocol icons at once? Do you have a suggestion for how to do this that
 isn't either horribly distracting or rather size intensive? Given that you
 now understand the prioritizing mechanism do you still want this change?
