Comment (by TOML):

 currently both of my accounts are set to port 5190(by default), i changed
 the AIM server from login.messaging.aol.com, to login.oscar.aol.com(i
 assume this is what you ment by being able to ping it).

 I just tried logging on from trillian, and all AIM accounts dissconnected
 seconds after starting, while MSN and YIM still worked.


 Also, I am not sure why but when i took laptop to a friends house I was
 able to log onto AIM through Pidgin today, but still not able to at my
 house.  Any ideas why?
