 Sorry, that was kind of vague.  I'm wondering if your computer tried to
 resolve the IP address for the AIM login servers, but the DNS query
 failed.  Then either your computer or your ISPs DNS server or something
 cached that result and will continue to answer with the invalid response
 until it expires, which shouldn't be more than a few days.

 But that's all just speculation.
