 I did some more testing. I tried getting a stable pidgin from the Ubuntu
 repositries (v2.4.1 unmodified). I experience the same crash here too. I
 decided to uninstall that again and remake/install 2.4.2 with --enable-
 msnp14. I emptied out my .purple folder (after backing it up of course).
 I've managed to find out more about the crash:

 It definately has something to do with MSN. I added my MSN details through
 the pidgin dialog (Welcome to Pidgin, add an account to start). As soon as
 it connected, it crashed. I re-emptied my .purple folder and decided to
 add my ICQ details first. Pidgin connects, and there is _no_ crash.

 So in short: my MSN details crash pidgin on both the stable 2.4.1 version
 from the repositry as well as on my --enable-msnp14 compile of 2.4.2. I
 have no clue what caused this to happen, for I was able to use pidgin fine
 two days ago.
