 rlaager: it's simply a matter of pointing those links
 (/usr/lib/libpthread.{a,so,so.0}) to their libthread_xu' counterparts. I
 wonder if rebuilding apps is necessary at all, or even if I did ? Couldn't
 tell. Just give it a try, you won't break anything (I *think* libthread_xu
 became the default threading library at 1.12-RELEASE time, but I somehow
 goofed my update).
