 I first proposed this change back with ticket 1519
 (http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/1519) and one of the biggest goals of
 the patch was to be able to hide mobile contacts. Miranda has a great,
 simple implementation that I think deserves to be looked at where there is
 a ticker that says "hide inactive" and then check boxes that allow the
 user to define what "inactive" means. You can check off away, idle,
 mobile, available, and more. I think that for simplicity's sake, the
 option to hide away, idle, and mobile contacts are all that is necessary.

 I'll attach a screen shot in a second.
