 I checked the FAQ and existing tickets; found nothing.
 I am running Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) and Pidgin 2.4.2.

 When I open the "Add Buddy" dialog, I see a window that looks like

 (links to ImageShack).  I have censored out the aliases and screen names.

 There are three buddies in the list, and one blank field.

 I can add the buddies in this "address book" to my Buddy List, but if I
 delete them from my Buddy List, they reappear in the Address Book.  This
 means that I cannot fully delete these entries; they either exist in the
 Address Book or on the Buddy List.

 How do I edit this "Address Book" within Pidgin? I want to delete these
 entries entirely.  Is the "Address Book" part of Pidgin, or is it part of
 the AIM system?
