 This seems to be what happens to me too and make piding unusable.
 Sometimes it connects to MSN and disconnects immediately after (I'm able
 to see my friends online for 1 second or so before I'm disconnected). I'm
 able to reconnect by clicking "Reconnect". It crashes after a random time.
 Sometimes immediately after connecting, sometimes a few seconds later
 while still downloading friends' buddy icons.

 I'm using a proxy (GNOME configured proxy) with no authentication. Don't
 know if this is relevant or not.
