Comment:

 Submitting patches here is fine. As is creating a new ticket and
 referencing this ticket (and might be better since then you would be the
 owner of that ticket). I believe there has been some work recently on some
 newer encryption proposals and it might make sense to look at those as
 well (though I haven't paid them much attention so I have no idea if they
 are actually usable at the moment). nwalp is currently on hiatus, his
 tickets just haven't been re-assigned.
