 OK, I've managed to eliminate the crash.

 This can be achieved by either disabling the ExtPrefs plugin or the Buddy
 List Options plugin, if they are enabled simultaneously bad things happen,
 probably because some of the options do the same thing.

 I have reported the bug on the ExtPrefs bug tracker, but I don't really
 know where the bug lies, one of the plugins or both of them?
