 Yeah - this is the problem; I wanted to start from t:v2.4.0 instead of
 h:im.pidgin.pidgin so that there are no changes, however minor, from the
 current Pidgin release.

 I checked out im.pidgin.pidgin, then committed a patch to the msimprpl
 branch. This worked :).
