 We have an openfire server on our lan with port forwarding to allow some
 people to connect from outside. The suggested xmpp.fqdn fix for this bug,
 which allows Pidgin 2.4 users on our lan to connect, results in users
 outside our network being unable to connect, because the hostname of our
 server does not work outside our lan. If we use the fqdn associated with
 our internet ip address instead, then users inside our lan are unable to
 connect.

 So it seems like we have two choices, if this bug remains invalid/wontfix.
 Pidgin users  connecting to our server must either stick with 2.3.1, which
 works, or use a different xmpp client.
