 Well, Pidgin was made to do just that. You can still align your window so
 that the new typing notification is seen when your conversation window is
 not active, so that's not a valid argument for the old place of the
 notification (And the tab color still changes to green). I agree that its
 color is not very eye catching but so wasn't the color of the old typing
 icon. I am for finding a better default color, or take the color from the
 GTK theme.
