 A friend tried to send me "兒女忽成行" (big5 encoding characters) from a MSN
 8.1 client and it showed up as 5 square boxes (see attached picture).

 The fun thing is, I can see these characters when I go to 'view log'.

 I am using pidgin 2.4.0 on win xp prof.
