Comment (by alopecoid):

 I'm amazed at what I'm reading here.[[BR]]
 [[BR]]
I have been using Pidgin since day one, and Gaim many years prior. I have
never needed to log a bug/comment because whenever something came up, I
would find that the developers were already aware of the problem and on
 their way to fixing it.[[BR]]
 [[BR]]
This "feature" may have had the best of intentions, but has had two
 unarguable results...[[BR]]
 [[BR]]
 1. It resulted in a bug. Look at the image that "kepplah" attached
 ([http://developer.pidgin.im/attachment/ticket/4986/pidgin-
inputtext.PNG]). Look at the two windows on the left of the image. That is
exactly how my instance of Pidgin looks. Come on. If one can't admit this
is a bug, then they are just being stubborn. I can't even see the input
message I am typing because it smaller that the height of one character.
 And I use a small font size.[[BR]]
 [[BR]]
 2. The decision to not allow users to resize the input text area did not
sufficiently take into account the way that people use this product. Just
one example is... yes, like it or not, developers/programmers use Pidgin
to paste little code snippets to each other. Because it is easy. In fact,
in a professional work environment, I would go as far as saying that this
is one of the most widely used use cases of an IM program. I would even
bet that the Pidgin developers themselves have used it in this way. Now
this is just one example of why someone would want to be able to resize
their input text area. It should be obvious from the amount of people
posting about this that there is an actual need for this ability, and to
deny users this ability for no good reason... is going to do nothing but
 loose users.[[BR]]
 [[BR]]
Thanks for creating such a useful product over the years.
