 Hi,

 I don t agree with you seanegan, i m a new pidgin user and this is my main
 concern atm. I have been using Trillian for a few years and the normal
 Windows Live Messenger too,  both softwares provide an option to
 "categorise offline contacts" which creates a group with all offline
 buddies.
 It's not confusing at all, you simply don t allow "drag and drop" to
 online groups for those contacts and you only display once any contact
 which may be in multiple groups.
 When you have large groups it's not usefull to use the actual "display
 offline contacts" option and with the new "offline messages" capabilities
 for many IMs it's very usefull to quickly access offline buddies with such
 a special group.
 I really hope you will consider implementation on this feature which
 should not be that complicated but SO usefull.
