 I second this requirement -- if there is any way in the protocol to
 determine whether the message being sent is received as an "offline
 message to be delivered later" versus a "received message by invisible
 contact" then I think it's very very necessary to show that in the UI
 somehow.

 One could argue that knowing whether a buddy is invisible or not defeats
 the purpose of invisibility, but my friends and I use this often when at
 work so we aren't bothered by others (except when absolutely necessary).
 It's very useful to know when they're actually offline versus only
 invisible.

 Take Skype, for a good example: it notifies you "The person you're trying
 to contact is not currently online. This message will be delivered when
 they next sign on." If the contact is simply invisible, then no "delayed
 message" warning is shown. That sounds reasonable.
