 I have to chime in with agreement that this is a bad change - not the
 change of just having this behavior available, but the idea that it's been
 made mandatory.  I must agree with the person above who described this as
 "a terrible solution to a problem no one was having".

 I'm reverting back to 2.3.1 until this change is either backed out, or
 made optional.
