Comment (by epic9x):
I'm registering for the first time here to increase the volume on this
issue after recently upgrading. I've given this a spin for a few hours
and can't get used to it, nor can my coworkers who've tried it. I am also
being forced to revert just to get work done, and will likely lie to
myself about having the skills to patch this before trying to find another
client to meet my needs.
As someone previously noted, the chief problem is this prevents you from
using the textbox to share and edit large blocks of text. Sharing and
correcting info from customer tickets and bits of code from various places
is essentially the primary use of pidgin in my work environment. The new
version makes pidgin near useless for this purpose as often we want to
resize the window to see the entire paragraph/text we're editing.
As I've read it, [comment:111 rudidude86] stated it best by saying we
should be adding a feature, not exchanging one feature for another.
Whether or not it has been seen this way, the way a piece of software
works creates invisible 'features' like this for users, and that should be
taken into account when making a major change like this to the core
interface of the application.
Beyond just complaining: thanks much to the pidgin developers for all your
hard work! Many of the other features/polishing added are quite nice.
