 Yes, a fork should be unnecessary. But the developers have all but stated
 they don't want to discuss this issue here - that this bug report is not a
 place for discussion. They don't seem to be entertaining rolling back, if
 they are considering it they haven't stated anything along those lines
 here. If there is an existing forum thread for discussion of this feature
 vs the old feature, I would suggest the URL for that thread be posted here
 as a last comment and this bug report closed. Maybe in a forum thread they
 will join the conversation or at least let us know what their intentions
 are (since, aside from a fork, they hold the keys to the castle). Posting
 their intentions or thoughts would probably put a lot of minds at rest.
