 i'm experiencing the same problem.  pidgin 2.4.0, gtk+ 2.12.8, glib
 2.14.6, windows vista ultimate 64-bit.   tried downgrading to gtk+ 2.12.1
 Rev B but it didn't fix it.

 insanely annoying problem.  i've downgraded to pidgin 2.3.0 for the time
 being :(
