 I have installed Pidgin 2.4.0, and am unable to connect to Gtalk. I've
 turned on the System Logging, but Pidgin seems to not be writing anything
 to the logfile.

 Under Preferences/Logging, I've turned on Log All Instant Messages, Log
 All Chats, Log All Status Changes to System Log.

 In Network, I've assigned our proxy after multiple unsuccessful attempts
 using the Global Settings, and this did not allow connectivity.

 I've tried Require SSL/TLS, and Force Old (port 5223) SSL, neither
 connect.

 This also happens with Adium 1.2.3 and I have opened a ticket with that
