 When an authentication attempt fails because the server rejects the
 attempt I'm pretty sure falling back to a different choice isn't the
 correct thing to do.

 Does JBother support DIGEST auth at all? If it doesn't that doesn't help
 us much.

 I want to see the SASL DIGEST success from another client to get another
 data point for what gsasl seems to want in the digest response.

 Comparing the Psi output to the working and non-working pidgin output I
 continue to only see the charset=utf-8 difference, which as I said is not
 mandatory (to the best of my knowledge). I would be curious to see if
 manually unpacking the response data, adding charset=utf-8 on the end and
 packing it back up in pidgin would allow the Cyrus code to work correctly
 with gsasl. So if you are able to write the code for that and try it I
 would be interested, if you can't maybe I'll find some time to write it
 this week. Either way, it looks to me like gsasl and Cyrus don't get along
 at the moment.
