Comment (by deryni):
I didn't ignore number three, I didn't respond to it, there is a
difference. I didn't respond to it because, as I said, there isn't
anything to respond to. It didn't ask any questions it didn't make any
claims that require responding to or which demand changes, it just
'ranted' about how preferences are good and they should never be removed
and always added because people always like change. If you really want me
to respond to it I can. As has been stated numerous times in many places
(probably in this ticket at least once), preferences always have a cost,
that cost is often not small, that cost is born by both the developers and
the users, repeated UI (and psychology) studies have shown that too many
options are significantly worse than none, and no people don't want a
preference they want things to work. The entire point of having this
discussion is to try to figure out what *other than a simple reversion*
will work, we (the developers) actively want to find a better solution, a
small (and not very vocal) group of users are likewise interested in
finding a better solution (which is where the increased maximum height
decision came from), and a second small (and very vocal) group of users is
not interested in finding a better solution and is instead only interested
in whining, complaining, screaming, or insulting us. I leave it to you all
to decide where you all fit and which of those groups I find helpful and
friendly and which I find distasteful and annoying.
