 well, it would be very useful, almost every polish IM has this.

 Come on, how do you browse through 200 contacts without tabs? Scrolling
 hurts the fingers, and if you have 15 groups per circa 10-15 people it is
 just simple and effective!

 I'm not asking for it to be the default behaviour, just an option please.

 Bah, I can even write it myself if you tell me how to write a plugin that
 works on the list and the window itself and show me to a good pidgin api
 tutorial.
