 Upon further testing I found different but related option to be the
 culprit in KIS 8.  The firewall can be enabled as long as the following

 - - -> Mail Anti-Virus[[BR]]
 - - - -> Settings (button)[[BR]]
 - - - - -> General (tab)[[BR]]

 - - - - - - -> General: POP3/SMTP/NNTP/IMAP/ICQ/MSN traffic (checkbox;
 this must be disabled)
