#5308: Huge icon inserted into KDE system tray
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------
Reporter: ralesk | Type: defect
Status: new | Priority: minor
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.4.0
Keywords: system tray kde | Pending: 0
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------
Ever since 2.4 was released (at least as far as I know, this is fresh
too), Pidgin inserts a huge (read: about 48×48 or 64×64) icon into the KDE
system tray, instead of conforming to the usual twenty-something sized
icons.
This breaks a multi-line system tray into a single line, which… well, it’s
just wrong. You wouldn’t want that on Windows either (I guess Windows,
however, is just way more restrictive about the tray icons, and KDE
unfortunately isn’t) — and I realise that in Gnome it’s much more typical
to have things become bigger and bigger in the panel rather than to wrap
and provide you with more space, so I guess this is where this “feature”
comes from.
Distributions: Ubuntu, UHU-Linux (the latter is minimally patched, if
that’s of interest, especially in the case of KDE3).
