I am against adding preferences (we dont want another code-bloat like
miranda).
Still, for me the proper solution is manual resize (simple behaviour) by
default and automatic rezise (exotic behaviour) as a plugin. Automatic
rezise turned out to be platform speciffic, something is supported by GTK,
something is not. Some devices might not support the concept at all (how
about the maemo port?).
However, I dont think we are in a position to force the developers to do
anything. That is the beauty of open source, after all - if '''you'''
don't like something in the code, then '''you''' could change it. In the
mean time, I got used to the autoresize... just fix the umlaut/cyrillic
bug, please :)
