 That looks suspiciously like a broken libtool install to me, as it seems
 to be splitting the input up and prepending X to each item on the line (I
 suppose it could be a broken /bin/sh but I would think you'd have noticed
 that before this). What distribution is this? What version of libtool?
 Does your package manager provide a tool to verify the correctness of an
 installed package (like rpm -V <packagename> does)?
