 As this has come up more than once recently I decided to take a minute to
 see if I could find out how Miranda does this, and I discovered that for
 ICQ at least it does in fact appear just to guess based on the reported
 capabilities and not by any specific reporting that the buddies clients
 do. As such I stand by my comment that pidgin will not do this.
