 Just thought I'd note that this has now happened again in Ubuntu Hardy
 with Pidgin 2.4.1 and was fixed in exactly the same manner - just changing
 privacy options in AIM Express instantly solved the problem.

 I have not used any other IM client than Pidgin 2.2.x and 2.4.1 with the
 account, so it may be that it's Pidgin causing the problem in the first
 place under some bizarre circumstances.
