Sorry if I shouldn't post this here..but it seems very related...
I am having a very close type of issue. I was running 2.0.1 for some time,
with no issues at all, with the exception that a few months ago MSN
stopped working from work. So I did a little searching around and it
looked like this had been fixed with 2.4.1., so I installed it today on my
XP laptop. Now when I try and start pidgin, it just crashes and asks if I
want to "Debug" or "close". I also have visual studio 2005 installed on my
box.
I then installed the debug version and get the same thing, and it does not
create the pidgin.rpt file for me either. The debug file I get is below:
