 But.. doesn't pidgin have already a emoticon pack system?

 I think that it can be confusing for the user to have different emoticons
 systems, and maybe the shortcuts can even conflict with the previous
 packs.

 In my humble opinion, as a suggestion, a better approach will be to let
 the user edit the current packs in a friendly way and use those emoticons
 as custom.

 It will be very nice to be able to use all those packs the community
 already worked for as custom emoticons.
