 I found the cause of this crash!

 The crash was being caused by winamp v5.51.

 I am sure of this. It obviously listens for global hotkeys. I no longer
 use winamp as Pidgin works fine when winamp is off. Stupid winamp. It was
 definately the cause.

 If anyone experiences a crash under windows, go through the
 applications/processes running and check every one.

 Cheers, problem fixed.
