 Agree!
 This would be an incredibly useful feature.

 I have over 200 buddies which I would like to split up into groups -- but
 I cannot because if I do I have to scroll around all over the place to
 find out who is actually available to chat.

 An alternative would be the ability to configure so that idle or away
 buddies show in a separate group, or some kind of collapsed sub-group of
 the group to which they belong.
