 I think I'm experiencing the same issue with Pidgin 2.4.1 in tabbed mode
 on Windows XP, and the Psychic Mode plugin (2.4.1):

 While typing in the text area of a conversation tab, if an IM from a new
 user comes, Pidgin creates a tab for that IM, sets the tab's title color
 to green (indicating incoming text), and focus goes away from the tab I
 was typing in.
