 I have tried reinstalling Aspell using several different versions from
 their website, tried uninstalling and reinstalling Pidgin with Aspell.
 As a bit of strange resolution for this, when I created the .bat file
 mentioned in the Preemptive Debug Logging in the Tips, after using that
 once, the spell check now works all the time without using the .bat
 anymore. I am not sure if it reset some settings but at this time, the
 spell check is working.
 If this happens for someone else, one troubleshooting step I would suggest
 is to create and use the .bat file mentioned in the Tips for bug reports
 mentioned here earlier, then exit Pidgin, and reopen using the regular
 shortcut or direct .exe and see if it is fixed. I assume that there is
 something there that resets something to allow it to start using the spell
 check again.
